IU offers many resources and methods to facilitate the accessibility of multimedia
Important steps to make audio or video content accessible to individuals with disabilities include:
- For the deaf or hard of hearing, provide transcripts for audio content and synchronized captions for video content
- For the visually impaired, provide video description for any visual-only video
- Strive to make the media player's interface and operation as accessible as possible
IU also offers other resources and facilities to maximize accessibility on campus. Reach out today for any additional questions or concerns about accessibility measures.
UITS Assistive Technology and Accessibility Center (ATAC)
If a student is requesting transcripts, captions, or video description for media used in a course, please contact the UITS Assistive Technology and Accessibility Centers on campus at firstname.lastname@example.org or 812-856-4112.
ATAC staff will help you understand how to make audiovisual content in your course accessible, as well as assist in the creation of captions or transcripts when appropriate.
